Authorities in Belen, New Mexico, have arrested a 16-year-old boy for allegedly killing his father, mother, and two younger brothers.
The teenager called the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office early Saturday morning to report the quadruple homicide. According to a statement from New Mexico State Police, the boy told the 911 dispatcher that he had killed his family.
When deputies arrived at the scene, the teenager exited the home with his hands raised and appeared to be highly intoxicated. Inside the residence, officers found the bodies of Leonardo Leyva, 42, Adriana Bencomo, 35, Adrian Leyva, 16, and Alexander Leyva, 14, all of whom had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. A handgun was discovered on the kitchen table.
The suspect has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder, authorities confirmed. Investigations into the motive behind the killings are ongoing.
