### MINISTER OF DEFENCE,BADARU RESIGNS AMIDST INCREASING INSECURITY

According to the statement, Badaru submitted his resignation through a letter dated December 1, 2025, citing health challenges as the reason for his decision.

Onanuga confirmed that President Tinubu has accepted the resignation, expressed appreciation for Badaru’s contributions, and will forward the name of a new nominee to the Senate later this week.

Badaru, 63, previously served as the governor of Jigawa State from 2015 to 2023 before being appointed Defence Minister on August 21, 2023.

His exit comes at a time when President Tinubu has declared a national security emergency, with details expected to be released soon.

Nigeria has been grappling with heightened insecurity, including frequent kidnappings and killings.

Earlier, President Tinubu held a meeting with Christopher Musa, the former Chief of Defence Staff, though it remains unclear whether this is connected to the now-vacant Defence Ministry position.
