KEBBI: MALAMI’S BROTHER GETS APPOINTMENT AFTER DEFECTION TO APC.

Barely a day after joining the All Progressives Congress (APC) and publicly endorsing Governor Nasir Idris’ bid for a second term, Almustapha Malami has been appointed as the General Manager of the Kebbi State Geographic Information System (KEBGIS).

Almustapha is the younger brother of the controversial former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN).

The appointment was communicated in an official letter signed by Kebbi State Head of Service, Malami Shekare, and released on Tuesday.

In the letter, the Head of Service congratulated Almustapha on his new role, urging him to demonstrate commitment, diligence, and dedication in line with the policies and objectives of the Kebbi State Government.

“The government expects you to leverage your experience to ensure effective management of the state’s geographic information system for enhanced land administration and service delivery,” the letter read.

The appointment, which takes immediate effect, places Almustapha at the helm of KEBGIS, a strategic agency responsible for land administration, mapping, and the management of digital land records—making the role crucial to Kebbi State’s governance and development initiatives.

The decision has sparked public discussion, with some critics viewing it as politically motivated, while others see it as a reward for loyalty to the ruling party. Government officials have not yet issued a formal response to the debate surrounding the timing and circumstances of the appointment.
