President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, praising his lifelong dedication to justice and the strengthening of the judiciary.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President highlighted Muhammad’s distinguished career on the Bench, which culminated in his tenure as CJN, noting his integrity, courage, and steadfast commitment to the rule of law.

“President Tinubu remembers the late Justice Tanko as an eminent legal scholar, a disciplined administrator, and a devoted public servant who committed his life to upholding justice and enhancing the judiciary,” part of the statement read.
The President acknowledged Justice Muhammad’s significant contributions to the growth of Nigeria’s legal system, emphasizing that his legacy will endure, especially among the many legal professionals he mentored.

Tinubu also extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late CJN, the Supreme Court of Nigeria, the Bar and Bench, and the people and government of Bauchi State, praying to Almighty Allah to grant his soul eternal rest.
Justice Muhammad, aged 71 and hailing from Bauchi State, served as Nigeria’s Chief Justice from 2019 to 2022 and passed away on Tuesday in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
