THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS DECLARED DECEMBER 25, 26 AND JANUARY 1, 2026, AS PUBLIC HOLIDAYS.

The Federal Government has officially declared December 25 and 26, 2025, as well as January 1, 2026, as public holidays.

The announcement was made on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani. The holidays are in observance of Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day celebrations.

Minister Tunji-Ojo urged Nigerians to reflect on the values of love, peace, humility, and sacrifice that the birth of Jesus Christ represents. He also encouraged citizens, regardless of faith or background, to use the festive season to pray for peace, security, and the nation’s progress.

He further called on Nigerians to remain law-abiding and vigilant throughout the celebrations, extending warm wishes for a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
