The NDLEA Jigawa State Command has issued a firm warning to drug dealers and users as the agency steps up patrols across the state during the Christmas period.
This announcement comes as Christian communities around the world, including those in Jigawa, celebrate the festive season.

According to PUNCH Metro, the agency urged residents to avoid drug use in the name of holiday celebrations, stressing that anyone caught during the intensified operations would face strict legal consequences.
In an exclusive phone interview with a PUNCH correspondent in Dutse, the state capital, the Public Relations Officer of the NDLEA Jigawa State Command, CSN Abdullahi Wada, outlined the agency’s enhanced festive season strategy.
He said that under the leadership of State Commander CN Hassan K. Kabaju, the NDLEA team is fully prepared to combat drug trafficking and abuse during Christmas and beyond.

CSN Wada explained, “We have strengthened collaboration with other security agencies, including the police, and intensified surveillance at borders and known hotspots.”
He added, “Our teams are on high alert, conducting increased patrols across communities to deter both users and traffickers.”
The spokesperson stressed that the operations aim to ensure Jigawa State remains a safe and healthy environment for residents during and after the festive season.
On the role of citizens, Wada said, “Community members play a critical part in this fight. We urge everyone to report suspicious activities promptly.”

Highlighting the agency’s resolve, he said, “This operation underlines our firm stance against drug abuse, particularly during festive periods. Traffickers attempting to exploit the holiday season will face heightened border monitoring and swift action.”
Wada concluded by advising, “Let’s celebrate responsibly, avoid harmful substances, and be aware that getting caught will carry severe consequences.”
