United States Congressman Riley Moore has reacted to the recent US military airstrikes targeting Islamic State (ISIS) militants in Sokoto State, north-west Nigeria.
President Donald Trump had announced on Thursday that American forces carried out multiple airstrikes against ISIS terrorists in the region as part of efforts to curb escalating violence.

Responding to the development on his X handle, Moore warned that additional action could follow if the killings persist. He said President Trump is determined to end what he described as the ongoing killing of Christians in Nigeria.
According to the lawmaker, the airstrike represents only the beginning of a broader response to both the alleged slaughter of Christians and the wider security crisis affecting Nigerians across religious and ethnic divides.

“President Trump has been clear that the killing of Christians in Nigeria must end,” Moore said.
He cautioned that the resolve of the Trump administration should not be underestimated, stressing that stronger measures could be deployed if the situation does not improve.

“As I stated at the outset: do not test President Trump’s resolve in this matter. Tonight’s strike, in coordination with the Nigerian government, is just the first step toward ending the slaughter of Christians and addressing the security crisis affecting all Nigerians,” he added.

Moore noted that the operation signals a tougher US stance in support of Nigeria’s fight against terrorism and violent extremism, adding that further steps remain possible.
The reaction comes after Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the country is engaged in structured security and intelligence cooperation with international partners, including the United States, to combat terrorism and violent extremism.
