President Donald Trump is prioritising efforts to stop the killing of Christians in Nigeria, according to U.S. Congressman Riley Moore.
Moore, a member of the United States House of Representatives, said the recent U.S. air strikes on terrorist targets in Nigeria were intended to protect Christian communities.
“We carried out these operations in close coordination with the Nigerian government, which is very important to emphasise. This was not a unilateral action by the United States; it was a joint effort to help secure Nigeria and put an end to the targeting of Christians,” Moore said in a post on X.

The U.S. launched the strikes on Christmas Day against terrorist positions in Bauni Forest, Tangaza Local Government Area, Sokoto State.
Moore noted that over the past two years, Christian communities in Nigeria had been attacked by terrorist groups during Christmas celebrations. He said President Trump’s actions were a response to those repeated assaults.

Sharing a clip of his interview with Fox News, Moore explained that the air strikes, coordinated with Nigerian authorities, were specifically aimed at ending the violence against Christians.
“The President is fully committed to this issue. This strike demonstrates his focus and is an important first step toward addressing the ongoing threat,” Moore said.

He added, “In the past two Christmases, Christians in Nigeria suffered massacres. This year, the situation has shifted—the Islamic terrorists are now facing consequences for their actions.”

The congressman also claimed that critics of the air strikes are attempting to appeal to a radical Islamic constituency, rather than acknowledging the need to respond to attacks on innocent civilians.
