The former First Lady of Oyo State, Florence Ajimobi, has declared that the 2027 governorship election in the state will be a fierce contest, vowing to dislodge the PDP-led government of Governor Seyi Makinde.
Speaking to journalists, Mrs. Ajimobi emphasized that the APC possesses the same resources as the PDP in Oyo State, adding that the party has federal support and sufficient funding to secure victory.

She stated:
“We are going to war in 2027 Oyo Guber; we have the Federal backing and the money. PDP must go. Whatever tactics they try, all power belongs to God, but we are going to beg God and fight.”
The newly confirmed Nigerian ambassador further stressed:
“Whatever they have in the state, we have at the federal level. They have money; we have money. We have all the support we need. We are not going to be intimidated.”
Political Landscape
Governor Makinde is expected to complete his tenure in 2027 and has vowed to select his successor under the PDP, which has led the state for nearly eight years. Already, two prominent figures have announced their interest in contesting the governorship:
Bayo Adelabu, current Minister of Power, running under the APC.

Hamzat Oriyomi, a well-known broadcaster, contesting under the Accord Party.
The APC previously lost Oyo State in both the 2023 state elections and the federal polls, when former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar defeated President Tinubu in the state.
