The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially confirmed Senegal as the winners of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, dismissing a formal protest lodged by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation challenging the outcome of the final.
CAF also announced a series of disciplinary measures related to incidents that occurred during and after the final match, imposing penalties on both national federations as well as individual players and officials.

The CAF Disciplinary Board reviewed Morocco’s complaint, which claimed that Senegal had violated Articles 82 and 84 of the AFCON regulations. After careful consideration, CAF ruled that the protest was unsubstantiated and did not demonstrate any regulatory breach, thereby upholding Senegal’s victory.
In addition to confirming the result, CAF handed out fines and suspensions for conduct that violated principles of fair play, loyalty, and integrity. Among the most notable sanctions, Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi was suspended for two official CAF matches, with one of the suspensions deferred for a year due to unsporting behaviour during the final.
Both the Senegalese and Moroccan football federations were also found guilty of disciplinary violations. Morocco was fined USD 200,000 for misconduct by stadium ball boys and an additional USD 100,000 for players and technical staff interfering with the VAR review process. Furthermore, the FRMF was fined USD 15,000 for the use of laser devices by supporters during the match.

The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) was fined USD 300,000 for unruly behaviour by its supporters and a further USD 300,000 for unsporting actions by its players and technical staff, which CAF stated breached disciplinary standards.
CAF emphasized that the combined actions of players, officials, and fans from both teams necessitated firm sanctions, reaffirming its commitment to upholding the integrity of

African football competitions.
With Senegal’s victory confirmed and the penalties enforced, CAF’s decision closes the chapter on the AFCON 2025 final while highlighting the governing body’s strict approach to misconduct during Africa’s premier football tournament.
