Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has congratulated the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who emerged victorious in Saturday’s bye-elections to fill two vacant seats in the state House of Assembly.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Napoleon Ukalikpe winner of the Ahoada East Constituency 2 seat and Bulabari Loolo winner of the Khana Constituency 2 seat.

In a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, by his Chief Press Secretary Onwuka Nzeshi, Governor Fubara described the victories as well-deserved, reflecting the popularity of the two candidates in their respective constituencies.

“It is the beauty of democracy. When the people believe in your capacity, they will give you their votes. I look forward to working with them and their colleagues in the State House of Assembly,” Fubara said.
He also commended the people of Ahoada East and Khana for the peaceful conduct observed before, during, and after the elections.

The bye-elections were held to fill vacancies created by the resignation of the former representative of Ahoada East Constituency 2 and the death of the former lawmaker for Khana Constituency 2, Dinebari Loolo, who died after an illness in September 2023.

Late Loolo’s widow, Bulabari Loolo, later emerged as the APC candidate and won the February 21 bye-election in Khana.
The Rivers State House of Assembly, under Speaker Martin Amaewhule, is expected to inaugurate the two new members-elect in the coming days.
