KANO REP BOOED, ESCORTED OUT OF APC WARD CONGRESS (VIDEO)

Tijjani Jobe, the member representing Dawakin Tofa/Tofa/Rimin Gado federal constituency in Kano, was booed and forcefully escorted out of an All Progressives Congress (APC) ward congress in Tofa Local Government Area.

Viral video clips circulating on social media captured the tense moment as a group of supporters chanted disapproval and confronted the lawmaker during the party’s leadership election meeting in his hometown.

In one clip, a voice from the crowd was heard saying: “Wallahi, our leader, there are issues to fix. We hunters, you have not considered us.”

The situation escalated as some youths continued shouting and making abusive remarks. Subsequent footage showed aides and supporters attempting to escort Jobe away from the venue in a vehicle amid growing tension.

The incident occurred during Jobe’s speech at the congress.

Earlier this month, Jobe had appealed to his constituents to forgive him for any shortcomings during a stakeholders’ meeting of the party—a gathering that reportedly ended in disorder.

Jobe, currently serving his fifth term in the House of Representatives, is reportedly seeking a sixth term. His recent return to the APC has fuelled speculation that he may be positioning for an automatic ticket in the next election.

Tofa’s outing was said to be his first major public appearance in his hometown since winning re-election in 2023.

The constituency has historically produced prominent political figures, including the late Danmasanin Kano, Dr. Yusuf Maitama Sule; the late Dr. Maikano Rabiu; the late Mustapha Janguza; Engr. Hamisu Abubakar Lambu; and Hon. Shehu Haruna Lambu.

Some aggrieved community members have criticised Jobe’s legislative record.

Umar Danladi, one of the critics, alleged that the lawmaker sponsored only one bill in his 19 years at the National Assembly—a proposed Federal University of Medical Sciences, which he claimed has yet to materialise.

He also accused Jobe of contributing minimally to debates on the floor of the House.

The viral incident has sparked widespread discussion on social media about grassroots discontent, political accountability, and internal party dynamics within the APC in Kano.
