The United States Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was targeted in a drone attack early Tuesday, prompting an emergency security alert for American citizens across the Kingdom.

According to an official statement from the U.S. Mission, two drones struck the embassy, leading authorities to issue a shelter-in-place directive for major cities including Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dhahran. The embassy advised Americans to avoid the facility and limit non-essential travel to military installations until further notice.

While the extent of the damage and any casualties have not been disclosed, the embassy said it is closely monitoring the evolving security situation.

American citizens in Saudi Arabia were urged to exercise extreme caution, review the latest security alerts, and reassess travel plans that could be affected by the incident. The mission also highlighted the importance of having a personal safety plan, stressing that crises can occur unexpectedly and preparedness is essential for safeguarding oneself and one’s family.
