DAY 21 RAMADAN KAREEM! MAY THIS BLESSED MONTH BRING YOU PEACE, JOY, AND CLOSENESS TO ALLAH.

Qur’an Verse for the 21st Day of Ramadan:

“Indeed, those who recite the Book of Allah and establish prayer and spend [in His cause] out of what We have provided them, secretly and publicly, can expect a trade that will never fail.”

— Surah Fatir (35:29)

May this Ramadan bring us closer to the Qur’an and its guidance. Ameen.

On the 21st day of Ramadhan, as the last ten nights begin—including the possibility of Laylatul Qadr—Muslims seek guidance, mercy, and blessings from the Qur’an, the book revealed in this sacred month. Here are some recommended Quranic verses for reflection and recitation:

1. Surah Al-Qadr (97:1-5) – The Night of Decree

This Surah highlights the immense rewards and blessings of Laylatul Qadr, which could fall on the 21st night.

“Indeed, We sent the Qur’an down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.” (Qur’an 97:1-5)

2. Surah Al-Dukhan (44:3-6) – A Blessed Night

Allah describes the night in which the Qur’an was revealed:

“Indeed, We sent it [the Qur’an] down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind]. On that night, every precise matter is made distinct—[Every] matter [proceeding] from Us. Indeed, We were to send [a messenger] as a mercy from your Lord. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.” (Qur’an 44:3-6)

3. Surah Al-Baqarah (2:186) – The Power of Dua

This verse reminds believers that Allah is always near and responsive to supplications, especially in Ramadhan.

“And when My servants ask you about Me, [O Prophet], indeed I am near. I respond to the call of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be guided.” (Qur’an 2:186)

4. Surah Al-Zumar (39:53) – Hope in Allah’s Mercy

This verse brings hope to sinners, reminding them of Allah’s boundless mercy and forgiveness.

“Say, O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.” (Qur’an 39:53)

5. Surah Al-Imran (3:190-191) – Reflection on Creation

These verses encourage deep reflection on Allah’s creation and inspire devotion.

“Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of the night and the day, are signs for those of understanding—Who remember Allah while standing, sitting, and lying on their sides and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth, [saying], ‘Our Lord, You did not create this aimlessly; exalted are You [above such a thing]; then protect us from the punishment of the Fire.'” (Qur’an 3:190-191)

Recommended Acts on the 21st Night:

Recite Surah Al-Qadr (97) repeatedly.

Make sincere dua, especially asking for forgiveness and guidance.

Engage in Tahajjud (night prayers) and Dhikr (remembrance of Allah).

Give charity (Sadaqah), as rewards are multiplied.

Seek Laylatul Qadr, as it is “better than a thousand months.”

May Allah (SWT) accept your fast, prayers, and duas in this blessed month of Ramadhan and grant you the rewards of Laylatul Qadr. Ameen.

On the 21st day of Ramadhan, the last ten nights begin, which includes Laylatul Qadr, the Night of Decree. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) emphasized the importance of these nights and the rewards they hold. Here are some authentic hadiths that are relevant to this special time:

1. Seeking Laylatul Qadr in the Last Ten Nights

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

“Seek Laylatul Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten nights of Ramadhan.”

(Sahih al-Bukhari, 2017; Sahih Muslim, 1169)

The 21st night is one of these odd nights, so this hadith encourages us to increase our worship, dua, and devotion.

2. The Enormous Reward of Laylatul Qadr

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

“Whoever stands (in prayer) during Laylatul Qadr with faith and seeking reward, all of his past sins will be forgiven.”

(Sahih al-Bukhari, 1901; Sahih Muslim, 760)

Since Laylatul Qadr is better than a thousand months (Surah Al-Qadr 97:3), acts of worship on this night hold immense rewards.

3. The Prophet’s (ﷺ) Worship in the Last Ten Nights

Aisha (RA) reported:

“When the last ten nights of Ramadhan began, the Prophet (ﷺ) would tighten his waist belt (i.e., strive hard in worship), stay awake throughout the night, and wake up his family for prayer.”

(Sahih al-Bukhari, 2024; Sahih Muslim, 1174)

This hadith encourages Muslims to increase worship, recitation of the Qur’an, and prayers in these final nights.

4. The Best Dua for Laylatul Qadr

Aisha (RA) asked the Prophet (ﷺ), “O Messenger of Allah, if I find Laylatul Qadr, what should I say?”

The Prophet (ﷺ) replied:

“O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love to forgive, so forgive me.”

(Sunan At-Tirmidhi, 3513; Ibn Majah, 3850; Sahih)

This powerful dua should be recited frequently on the 21st night and beyond.

5. Ramadhan: A Month of Mercy and Forgiveness

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

“Whoever fasts in Ramadhan with faith and seeking reward, his past sins will be forgiven.”

(Sahih al-Bukhari, 38; Sahih Muslim, 760)

This hadith reassures believers that sincere fasting, especially in these final days, brings forgiveness and divine blessings.

Recommended Acts for the 21st Night:

Pray Tahajjud (night prayer) and make long sujood (prostration).

Recite the Qur’an, especially Surah Al-Qadr (97) and Surah Al-Dukhan (44).

Make abundant dua, especially the recommended dua for Laylatul Qadr.

Give charity, as rewards are multiplied.

Seek Allah’s forgiveness, as this is a night of mercy.

May Allah (SWT) grant us the blessings of Laylatul Qadr, accept our fasting, prayers, and duas, and forgive our sins. Ameen.

As we advance deeper into Ramadan, it is important not only to fast — but to fast correctly, and to break our fast in the manner taught by the Prophet ﷺ.

Ramadan is discipline.

It is worship. It is refinement of character — even in how we eat.

The Prophet ﷺ encouraged believers to hasten to break the fast once the sun sets.

He said:

“People will remain upon goodness as long as they hasten to break the fast.”

(Bukhari & Muslim).

The Sunnah method of breaking the fast is simple and balanced.

The Prophet ﷺ would break his fast with fresh dates.

If fresh dates were not available, then dry dates.

If dates were not available, then a few sips of water.

(Abu Dawud)

This teaches moderation.

Start light. Pray Maghrib. Then return to eat properly — without excess.

Allah warns us clearly:

“Eat and drink, but do not be excessive.”

(Qur’an 7:31).

Ramadan is not a month of overeating.

Heavy, oily meals immediately after fasting can weaken the body and reduce concentration in Taraweeh and night worship. Hydrate gradually.

Include fruits, vegetables, and balanced meals.

Preserve your strength for ‘ibadah.

Most importantly, do not miss the du‘ā at the moment of breaking the fast.

The fasting person has a supplication that is not rejected at ifṭār.

This is a spiritually powerful moment — between patience and relief.

An authentic du‘ā to recite is:

Dhahaba al-ẓama’u wabtallati al-‘urūq wa thabata al-ajru in shā’ Allāh

“The thirst has gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is confirmed, if Allah wills.”

(Abu Dawud)

Another widely recited supplication is:

“O Allah, for You I fasted, in You I believe, upon You I rely, and with Your provision I break my fast.”

Beyond these, ask Allah personally — for forgiveness, mercy, health, protection, and barakah.

Ramadan is not about ritual hunger.

It is about spiritual elevation.

Break your fast with gratitude. Eat with discipline.

Make du‘ā with sincerity. Protect your reward.

May Allah accept our fasting, forgive our shortcomings, and grant us steadfastness throughout this blessed month.

Āmīn.
