Abuja – Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, on Monday officially decorated eight senior officers who have been promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

In his address, IGP Disu described the ceremony as more than just a formal decoration, highlighting that the promotion recognizes decades of dedicated service, professional excellence, and strong leadership qualities.

He charged the newly promoted officers to provide strategic direction, enhance internal discipline, implement reforms, and ensure that policing strategies remain adaptive to current and emerging security challenges. He also encouraged them to draw on their

expertise in intelligence-led policing, operational coordination, inter-agency collaboration, and accountability, while building public trust and confidence in the Force.

IGP Disu also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support and to the Police Service Commission for maintaining transparency and professionalism in the promotion process. He acknowledged the families of the officers for their support, which he said has been vital to their distinguished careers.

The officers promoted to DIG include Zachariah Fera Achinyan, Zango Ibrahim Baba, Isyaku Mohammed, Margaret Agebe Ochalla, Mohammed Abdul Sulaiman, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha, and Umar Shehu Nadada.

Alongside the newly promoted DIGs, the Force Secretary, AIG Olabode Adeleye Akinbamilowo, and other senior officers now form the new Force Management Team.
Prominent figures at the ceremony included the Chairman of the House Committee on Air Force, Rt. Hon. Kabir Alhassan Rurum, DG of NACA Dr. Temitope Ilori, former Head of Civil Service Danladi Kefas, and other notable retired officers and dignitaries.
