The Senate has confirmed the nomination of former Kebbi State Governor Usman Isa Dakingari as a Non-Career Ambassador.
The upper chamber also approved the appointment of Ismail Abba Yusuf as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
The confirmations followed the consideration and adoption of the report of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, chaired by Senator Abubakar Sani Bello.
In a related development, the Senate confirmed the nomination of retired Rear Admiral Jamila Abubakar-Sadiq (representing the North-East) as National Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
This followed the presentation and consideration of the report of the Committee on Electoral Matters, chaired by Senator Simon Lalong.
Meanwhile, the Senate adjourned plenary until March 31, 2026, to allow lawmakers to observe the upcoming Eid al-Fitr and Easter celebrations.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced that legislative activities would continue at the committee level during the break. He directed that work on the 2026 Appropriation Bill should be concluded so the report would be ready for passage upon resumption.
