TWO POLICE CONSTABLE CANDIDATES ARRESTED WITH FORGED NECO CERTIFICATES IN BAUCHI

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two police constable candidates over alleged certificate forgery during a screening exercise at the Police Training School Bauchi.

The command’s spokesperson, Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement released on Friday, explaining that the arrests were made during the ongoing recruitment screening at the training school.

According to him, the screening exercise was led by A.Y. Dickson, who headed the team responsible for conducting the recruitment process.

Habib said a total of 403 candidates were screened during the exercise. The number included 354 applicants seeking recruitment for general duty and 49 candidates applying as specialists.

He added that two of the candidates were arrested after they were discovered to be in possession of forged results from the National Examinations Council (NECO).

Interestingly, the suspects were both identified with the same name, Yusuf Usman, and were reportedly moving together throughout the screening process before their documents were found to be fake.

“The team screened 354 General Duty and 49 Specialists, making a total of 403 candidates. Two candidates were arrested with forged NECO results, both named Yusuf Usman, and they were moving together throughout the process,” Habib said.

He noted that the team leader ordered that the suspects be handed over to the Divisional Police Officer of the ‘E’ Division for further investigation.

Habib also warned applicants against engaging in fraudulent practices during recruitment exercises, stressing that such actions could lead to arrest and prosecution.

The screening forms part of the ongoing nationwide recruitment of 50,000 constables by the Nigeria Police Force, which began earlier in the week.
