Governor Ahmed Aliyu has urged Muslims in Sokoto to continue acts of charity beyond Ramadan, particularly by supporting Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) across the state.

In his Eid-el-Fitr message, the governor emphasized that aiding the less privileged strengthens unity, compassion, and the principles of Islamic brotherhood. He highlighted that many IDPs, especially in the eastern axis of the state, were displaced by banditry and still require sustained assistance.

Aliyu outlined efforts by his administration to enhance security and improve welfare in IDP camps. He noted that 100 housing units have been built in Illela Local Government Area for displaced persons, with similar projects planned in other affected locations. The government has also continued providing food, relief materials, and other support to IDPs within and outside urban centres.

Over the past two years, the governor revealed, the state has disbursed hundreds of millions of naira and supplied food, clothing, and assistance to widows, orphans, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups. The administration also supports Islamic clerics, including Imams, Deputy Imams, and Muazzins, to promote religious values statewide.

Reaffirming his commitment to development, Aliyu assured residents of continued progress under his 9-Point Smart Innovative Agenda, particularly in infrastructure and urban renewal, while urging citizens to support government programmes and pray for peace and unity in Sokoto and Nigeria.
He concluded by wishing Muslims a joyful and peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
