OSUN GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION HEATS UP AS APC CANDIDATE OYEBAMIJI PICKS DEPUTY, SET FOR SHOWDOWN WITH GOV ADELEKE

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has selected Benjamin Kayode Adereti, an engineer from Ile-Ife, as his running mate for the August 2026 election. The move comes as preparations intensify ahead of the poll, in which incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke is seeking reelection.

APC leaders in Ife Central Local Government rallied behind the party ticket following the deputy governorship selection. In a statement on Sunday, signed by former Senator Babajide Omoworare, Prof Taiwo Olaiya, former Ife Central council chairman Nike Omoworare, and other party stakeholders, the decision was described as a strategic recognition of Ife’s political importance in Osun State.

The leaders praised Adereti’s selection, noting his previous candidacy for the Ife Federal Constituency seat under the APC in the 2023 elections and highlighting his strong party credentials.

“Unlike the current occupants of Government House, the AMBO–Adereti ticket features individuals with verifiable educational backgrounds, family values, and professional certifications,” the statement said. “Oyebamiji’s expertise as a finance professional has previously benefited the state, and Adereti’s experience complements the ticket.”

APC leaders further assured that party members in Ife Central will work closely with Adereti and the state leadership to secure victory at the polls, promising to end what they described as a lackluster and mismanaged administration under Governor Adeleke.

“The AMBO–Adereti ticket aims to build on the Renewed Hope of PBAT while delivering purposeful leadership and accelerated development to the people of Osun State,” the statement concluded.
