The incident occurred around noon at Ward 8 in the Isida area, as members of both parties gathered for the registration exercise ahead of the 2026 governorship election. Tensions escalated shortly after electoral officials arrived at the venue, according to local residents.

Multiple gunshots were reportedly fired during the confrontation, prompting traders and business owners in Isida and Ita-Akogun to temporarily close their shops. Security personnel eventually intervened to restore order.

Efforts to reach party officials from both APC and Accord Party for comments were unsuccessful. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed the incident, adding that no electoral staff were harmed and that a stakeholders’ meeting had been convened to decide the next steps.
