JED Explains Drop in Power Supply Across Plateau, Bauchi, Benue, Gombe
Jos Electricity Distribution Plc (JED Plc) has explained the ongoing drop in electricity supply affecting several states within its coverage area, including Plateau, Bauchi, Benue, and Gombe.
The company said the situation is due to a significant reduction in power allocation from the national grid, which has directly limited the amount of electricity available for distribution to customers.

Speaking in Jos, the company’s spokesperson, Saratu Aliyu Dauda, noted that the challenge is largely beyond the control of the distribution company.
“The reduction in power supply is a result of decreased allocation from the national grid. As a distribution company, our capacity to supply electricity is dependent on what is made available to us,” she said, appealing to customers for patience and understanding.
She added that JED Plc is actively engaging with key stakeholders in the power sector to find solutions and improve supply stability across its franchise states.
The company also reaffirmed its commitment to better service delivery, assuring customers that efforts are ongoing to enhance electricity availability.
The development comes amid growing nationwide concerns over inconsistent power supply and broader energy challenges, which continue to affect businesses and daily activities across the country.
