In celebration of the 2026 International Women’s Day, Lafarge Africa Plc., in collaboration with Leadway Health, organized a free breast health screening at the Primary Health Care Centre in Akerele, Surulere, Lagos State over the weekend.
The program offered women access to essential health checks while highlighting the importance of early detection in combating breast cancer.

Gabriel Pollyn, Head of Sustainability and Sponsorship at Lafarge Africa Plc., explained that the initiative helps bridge gaps in access to healthcare and information, encouraging women to take proactive steps in managing their health.
Dr. Olukemi Albert-Udoh, Occupational Health Coordinator at Lafarge Africa Plc., provided an overview of the screening exercise, detailing its purpose and process, and urged participants to share their knowledge with family, friends, and the community to increase awareness.

Dr. Atere Abisola, Team Lead for Client Services and Wellness at Leadway Health, offered practical guidance on breast cancer, helping women understand the screening process and the critical role of early detection.

Adetoro Baiyewu, Health Supervisor for Surulere Local Council, commended Lafarge Africa Plc. for bringing life-saving healthcare services to the grassroots, ensuring women have access to essential information and early detection opportunities.

The initiative complements Lafarge Africa Plc.’s wider commitment to women’s empowerment, following its 2026 International Women’s Day celebration themed, “The Give to Gain Blueprint: Investing in Women for Sustainable Impact.” By combining health-focused interventions with empowerment programs, the company reinforces the importance of women’s health and early detection as a vital tool in saving lives.
