Adeleye Falade has officially taken office as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG). He assumed the role on Wednesday at the company’s Corporate Head Office in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The appointment follows the departure of former MD and CEO, Philip Mshelbila, who was appointed Secretary-General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF). The announcement was made in a statement signed by Sophia Horsfall, General Manager of External Relations and Sustainable Development at NLNG.
Falade brings nearly three decades of global oil and gas experience, with extensive leadership exposure across the LNG and petroleum sectors. Before joining NLNG as CEO, he served as Managing Director of Brunei LNG Sendirian Berhad from April 2024, where he led strategic operations for one of the world’s established LNG producers.

Within the Shell Group, Falade held senior technical and leadership roles across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Russia, and Africa, gaining expertise in gas and petroleum operations, production optimisation, engineering, operational excellence, and change management. He also served as Country Chair for Shell Namibia in 2023, providing strategic leadership and stakeholder engagement.

Falade previously held key positions at NLNG, including General Manager, Production (May 2019 – September 2023), overseeing plant performance and operational safety, and Operations Manager (July 2015 – May 2018). He also served as Regional Asset Management System Implementation Manager at Shell in The Hague (May 2018 – April 2019), leading efficiency and reliability initiatives across global assets.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from the University of Ibadan and an MBA from Henley Business School, University of Reading, UK. Falade is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), a registered member of COREN, and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
Falade assumes leadership of NLNG during a pivotal period, with the Train 7 expansion nearing completion and new long-term Gas Supply Agreements secured to strengthen feedgas supply. His appointment reflects NLNG’s commitment to indigenous leadership and the development of local capacity in the global LNG sector.
