‘LET US COME TOGETHER’ — PRP WOOS ATIKU, OBI, KWANKWASO AFTER ADC LEADERSHIP CRISIS

The People’s Redemption Party (PRP) has called on key figures in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, to come together under its platform in a bid to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy.

The appeal comes amid an ongoing leadership crisis within the ADC, which has led to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) stepping back from engaging with factions led by David Mark and Nafiu Bala Gombe, pending the outcome of a court case.

Reacting to the situation, Lagos PRP chairman, James Adeshina, described the internal conflict within the ADC as a serious setback for opposition unity. He warned that such divisions weaken the ability of opposition parties to present a strong alternative, while also increasing the risk of the country drifting toward a one-party system.

According to him, with both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and ADC dealing with internal challenges, the PRP stands out as a stable and credible option.

Adeshina stressed that the current political climate demands bold decisions, urging leaders across opposition parties to move beyond rivalry and begin working together toward a common goal.

He invited major political stakeholders, including Atiku Abubakar, Rauf Aregbesola, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, to consider aligning with the PRP, describing it as a party with a long-standing history, strong ideology, and internal stability.

He argued that while the ADC is currently facing internal struggles, the PRP has maintained unity and discipline over the years, making it a more reliable platform for advancing shared political objectives.

Adeshina added that the crisis within the ADC should serve as a wake-up call for opposition leaders to rethink their strategies and prioritise national interest over party loyalty.

“This is not about abandoning personal or party ideals,” he said. “It is about preserving them within a more stable structure and ensuring that the vision for Nigeria is not lost to division and conflict.”

He concluded by urging opposition leaders to seize the moment, unite, and build a stronger front ahead of the 2027 elections, expressing confidence that the PRP has the capacity to perform strongly if such unity is achieved.
