Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully foiled a terrorist attack in Ariko Village, Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, rescuing 31 civilians who were abducted during an Easter church service.
According to a statement released on Sunday, the operation was launched after a distress call reported that worshippers had been kidnapped from an ECWA Church in the community.

The Army said its troops responded swiftly and, with the help of local residents, tracked the attackers as they fled the scene. They eventually engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle and overpowered them.
Under pressure from the advancing soldiers, the terrorists abandoned 31 hostages, including one person who sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical care.
Sadly, the bodies of five victims who had already been killed by the attackers were recovered at the scene. The Army noted that the fleeing terrorists likely suffered heavy casualties, as blood trails were seen along their escape routes.

Security forces have since intensified efforts to track down the attackers, rescue any remaining victims, and ensure those responsible are brought to justice. Additional troops have also been deployed to strengthen security in the area and prevent further attacks.
The Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and maintaining peace, urging members of the public to continue providing timely and useful information to support ongoing operations.
The attack had earlier thrown the Ariko community into mourning, as gunmen stormed worship centres during Easter celebrations, killing several people and abducting others before the military intervention.
