TINUBU PAYS GLOWING TRIBUTE TO EX-OGUN GOVERNOR, OTUNBA GBENGA DANIEL AT 70

President Bola Tinubu has paid glowing tribute to his longtime ally and former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, as he marked his 70th birthday.

In a message released on Monday, Tinubu praised Daniel’s achievements in business, governance, and politics, describing him as a man whose success has been driven by hard work, wisdom, and determination. He noted that Daniel has built a strong reputation over the years through his contributions to national development and public service.

The President highlighted Daniel’s journey from the private sector, where he founded the engineering firm Kresta Laurel in 1990, to his time as governor of Ogun State, where he focused on industrialisation, infrastructure, education, and public-private partnerships. He also acknowledged Daniel’s role in initiating key projects, including the state’s agro-allied cargo airport and the establishment of Tai Solarin University of Education.

Tinubu also recalled their long-standing relationship, noting that Daniel played a significant role in supporting his emergence as governor of Lagos State in 1999. He commended Daniel’s political resilience, including his return to the All Progressives Congress, describing him as a committed progressive and influential party leader.

Also celebrating Daniel were Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, and the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, among other dignitaries.

Speaking at a thanksgiving service held in Sagamu, Abiodun described Daniel’s 70th birthday as a major milestone, praising his impact on both Ogun State and Nigeria. He said Daniel has demonstrated excellence in both the private and public sectors, contributing significantly to economic growth and governance.

Pastor Adeboye, in his sermon, described Daniel as an “original Omoluabi,” commending his integrity and performance while in office. He noted that during Daniel’s time as governor, he fulfilled his promises and stood out among past leaders of the state.

The event drew several prominent figures, including political leaders, traditional rulers, and associates, all of whom celebrated Daniel’s legacy and contributions.

In his remarks, Daniel expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, urging citizens to remain hopeful as the country prepares for the 2027 elections. He also called on Nigerians to continue supporting President Tinubu in his efforts to move the nation forward.
