Iran Agrees to Temporary Safe Passage Through Strait of Hormuz Ahead of Talks
Iran announced on Wednesday that it will allow safe maritime passage through the strategic Strait of Hormuz for a period of two weeks. The move comes as the country prepares for talks with the United States aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict, scheduled to begin Friday in Islamabad.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the safe passage will be coordinated with the nation’s armed forces, taking into account technical considerations. The Supreme National Security Council added that the negotiations are planned for two weeks but could be extended if both sides agree.

Iraq’s foreign ministry welcomed the development, emphasizing the need for meaningful dialogue between the United States and Iran. The ministry urged both nations to use this period to address the root causes of their disputes and build mutual trust.
