Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, has dissolved the State Executive Council with immediate effect, bringing the tenure of all commissioners to an abrupt end.
The announcement was made on Wednesday in a brief statement by the Director-General of Press Affairs at the Government House, Ismaila Misilli.
“Breaking News… Governor Inuwa Yahaya dissolves Gombe Executive Council. More details to follow,” the statement read.

As of the time of reporting, no official reason has been given for the decision, but it affects all serving commissioners and members of the council.
Observers say such moves are often tied to administrative restructuring or political realignments, especially as preparations for the 2027 general elections begin to gather pace.

The development comes shortly after a similar move in Borno State, where Governor Babagana Zulum also dissolved his cabinet.
In Borno’s case, the government explained that the decision was partly to allow council members who intend to contest in upcoming elections to pursue their ambitions. Commissioners were also directed to hand over to permanent secretaries within a specified timeframe.
With political activities gradually intensifying across the country, such cabinet reshuffles are increasingly seen as part of broader strategies ahead of the next election cycle.
