GOVERNOR BALA MOHAMMED MEETS APC HOUSE OF REPS MEMBERS AHEAD OF DEFECTION (VIDEO)

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State on Thursday held a closed-door meeting with members of the House of Representatives from the All Progressives Congress (APC), fueling fresh speculation about his possible defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The meeting comes amid a series of political moves suggesting the governor may be preparing to leave the PDP. Just days earlier, he hosted national leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Bauchi, where reports indicated he was also considering joining the party.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Mohammed cited the prolonged internal crisis within the PDP as a major reason for his decision to consider leaving. He said repeated efforts to resolve the party’s issues had failed.

“We are very conscious of the timeline. We are finalising this move by Thursday so that we can be on the same page and not be excluded from participation,” he said.

A member of the Bauchi State House of Representatives, who spoke on behalf of others after the meeting, described the gathering as part of ongoing political realignments both in the state and across the country.

“We are here on a special invitation to meet with our governor and leader to discuss the political developments in our state and the wider realignment happening in Nigeria. We have reached a positive conclusion and will soon make our position known,” the lawmaker said.

Mohammed’s recent engagements with APC lawmakers and ADC stakeholders suggest he is weighing multiple options ahead of the next election cycle, as political alignments continue to shift across the country.
