APC CHIEFTAIN LAUDS TINUBU OVER MILITARY PENSION REFORMS

The APC Initiative for Good Governance (APC-IGG) has praised President Bola Tinubu for ongoing reforms in the military pension system, describing the moves as part of efforts to strengthen institutional efficiency and improve the welfare of retired service personnel.

In a statement issued in Abuja, the group’s national president, Ambassador Musa Tsoken, commended the recent approval of Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Idris Adamu (Rtd) as Chairman of the Military Pensions Board, noting that the appointment reflects the administration’s focus on placing experienced professionals in key positions.

Tsoken said the decision demonstrates the government’s commitment to enhancing pension administration and ensuring better management of benefits for retired military personnel. He added that such appointments are essential for improving accountability and institutional performance.

He further called for the immediate implementation of the presidential directive to allow the newly appointed chairman to assume office without delay, stressing that any administrative bottlenecks could slow down reforms in the sector.

According to him, prompt assumption of duty would enable the appointee to apply his experience in military finance and institutional management toward improving the pension system.

Tsoken also warned that delays in implementing presidential appointments could weaken governance processes and undermine public confidence in government institutions.

He urged relevant offices, including the Presidency and the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, to ensure smooth coordination and resolution of any procedural issues affecting the appointment.

Reaffirming support for the Tinubu administration, APC-IGG stated its readiness to work with stakeholders to promote transparency, discipline, and effective service delivery in governance.

The group added that swift action on the matter would reinforce trust in democratic institutions and demonstrate respect for due process in public administration
