He also confirmed that the 2027 presidential race would be the last time he seeks Nigeria’s highest political office, stating that he intends to exit the presidential contest after that election cycle.

Atiku expressed readiness to support whoever eventually emerges as the party’s flagbearer, stressing that unity within the coalition remains a top priority. He added that if another aspirant secures the ticket, he would step aside in their favour.

Commenting on possible contenders within the coalition, he noted that any qualified aspirant, including Peter Obi, could be considered in the process.

The former Vice President said his decision to retire from presidential contests after 2027 was final, emphasizing that the coming election would mark the end of his long-standing ambition for the office.

Defending his relevance in Nigerian politics, he argued that experience remains crucial in governance and maintained that lessons from past administrations continue to shape effective leadership. He also stressed the need for mentorship for younger political actors.

Atiku further criticised the current state of governance, describing the administration as underperforming and raising concerns about weakening democratic institutions and checks and balances.

He revealed that he is actively involved in building a broad political coalition ahead of 2027, drawing support from multiple political parties including APC, PDP, NNPP, and Labour Party structures.

He also reiterated his strong political influence in Northern Nigeria and called for constitutional reforms that would formally recognize zoning in the country’s political structure.

According to him, the emerging coalition represents a major realignment in Nigerian politics and could shape the outcome of the 2027 general elections.
