A pregnant woman has successfully undergone a delicate surgical procedure to remove extremely large uterine fibroids weighing about 27 pounds, after initially being advised by some doctors to end her pregnancy.
Brionna Johnson, who is expecting her second child, began experiencing serious complications when multiple fibroids started growing and pressing on her uterus and surrounding organs.

She said she was alarmed by the size of the growths and sought medical help, but was reportedly told by several doctors that the safest option would be to terminate the pregnancy and undergo a hysterectomy to remove the fibroids and prevent future recurrence. However, she rejected that recommendation and insisted on seeking other medical opinions.

After a period of worsening discomfort, including rapid abdominal enlargement, back pain, and significant weight gain over a short time, she eventually consulted a specialist obstetrician and gynecologist at a hospital in Chicago.
Following evaluation, the specialist performed a surgical operation when she was 17 weeks pregnant, successfully removing the massive fibroids through a small incision while carefully preserving the pregnancy.

The procedure was described as highly unusual due to the size of the fibroids and the complexity of operating during pregnancy. Medical experts noted that fibroids can sometimes grow or change during pregnancy due to hormonal influences, which may explain the sudden severity of her symptoms.

After the surgery, Brionna reported improvement in her condition and said she had begun to feel fetal movement again, expressing relief and gratitude that both her health and pregnancy were still stable. She is now continuing her pregnancy with an expected delivery date in August and has been informed that her fertility remains unaffected.
