BAT-IG HAILS TINUBU’S CABINET RESHUFFLE, CALLS FOR BROADER REFORMS ACROSS MINISTRIES

The Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ideological Group (BAT-IG) has expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent cabinet reshuffle, describing it as a positive and necessary step toward improving governance and strengthening service delivery under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The group noted that the decision came about a week after it sent an open letter to the President dated April 14, 2026, urging stronger accountability, performance tracking, and results-driven leadership across government institutions.

According to a statement referencing information from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the reshuffle led to the departure of Mr. Wale Edun and Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa from the Federal Executive Council.

Under the new arrangement, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele has been appointed as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, while Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been nominated as Minister of Housing and Urban Development. The transition is expected to be completed on or before April 23, 2026.

The Presidency said the changes are aimed at improving coordination within government, strengthening policy alignment, and delivering better economic outcomes for Nigerians.

BAT-IG described the move as evidence of responsive leadership and said it reflects the President’s willingness to act on constructive advice.

However, the group urged the administration to extend similar performance reviews to other Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), arguing that some have underperformed and failed to effectively implement government policies.

It expressed concern that certain public officials have not demonstrated sufficient innovation or measurable results, warning that this could undermine public confidence and slow national development.

The group also called for a broader evaluation of political appointees across all levels of government and recommended sanctions for those found to be ineffective in their duties.

BAT-IG reaffirmed its support for the President and urged continued reforms aimed at improving governance efficiency and achieving the goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
