A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced steep fees for its presidential and other elective nomination forms ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to an election timetable released by the faction’s National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, presidential aspirants will pay ₦51 million in total for expression of interest and nomination forms, while governorship hopefuls are required to pay ₦21 million.

The sale of forms is scheduled to begin on April 27 and close on May 4, with May 9 set as the deadline for submission of completed applications.

Under the fee structure, expression of interest forms cost ₦1 million across all positions. Additional nomination fees include ₦2 million for State House of Assembly aspirants, ₦3 million for House of Representatives, ₦5 million for Senate, ₦20 million for governorship, and ₦50 million for presidential aspirants.
Screening for State Assembly, National Assembly, and governorship candidates will take place on May 11, while presidential aspirants will be screened on May 12. Primary elections are scheduled to follow, with presidential primaries set for May 18 and governorship primaries on May 27.

House of Representatives primaries are fixed for May 21, Senate primaries for May 23, and State Assembly primaries between May 21 and May 24. All appeal processes are expected to conclude by May 30, 2026.
The announcement also states that female aspirants will only be required to pay the expression of interest fee for their respective positions.

This development comes amid an ongoing leadership crisis within the PDP, which has split the party into rival factions, each backed by different political heavyweights. The internal dispute has also resulted in several court cases, further complicating preparations for the 2027 elections.
