TERRORISTS STORM HOMETOWN OF KWARA GOVERNOR’S CPS AJAKAYE, ABDUCT 11 RESIDENTS IN COORDINATED ATTACKS

Terrorists have launched a coordinated attack on multiple communities in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, abducting no fewer than 11 residents across Alabe, Babanla, and Kajola communities.

SaharaReporters gathered that the incident occurred on Thursday, throwing the affected communities into panic as heavily armed assailants reportedly invaded the areas simultaneously.

According to multiple sources familiar with the development, the attackers struck Alabe Community — the hometown of Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor — as well as Babanla and Kajola, carrying out abductions during the raids.

The sources disclosed that two persons were kidnapped in Alabe, two others in Babanla, while seven residents were abducted in Kajola, bringing the total number of victims to 11.

A source, who spoke to SaharaReporters on condition of anonymity due to fear of reprisals, confirmed the scale and coordination of the attacks.

“Yes, they attacked Alabe, the town where Rafiu Ajakaye, the Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, comes from, and kidnapped two people. They also attacked Babanla and kidnapped two people, and seven from Kajola,” the source said.

The near-simultaneous nature of the attacks has raised fresh concerns about the growing insecurity in Kwara State, particularly in rural communities within kwara south, where residents have repeatedly complained about the increasing presence of armed groups.

A security source also confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters, validating reports of the coordinated assaults and abductions across the three communities.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from the Kwara State Government or security agencies regarding the attacks or efforts being made to rescue the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.

Residents in the affected communities are said to be living in fear, with many calling on the government and security agencies to urgently intervene and prevent further attacks.
