United States President Donald Trump has renewed his push for the construction of a new ballroom within the White House complex, saying a recent security scare has strengthened the case for the project.
In a post shared on his Truth Social account on Sunday, Trump argued that the incident highlighted long-standing security concerns that, according to him, past presidents and security agencies have raised over the years.
He said the proposed facility would provide a safer and more secure space for major events at the White House, while also eliminating vulnerabilities associated with current arrangements.

“What happened last night is exactly the reason that our great Military, Secret Service, Law Enforcement… have been demanding that a large, safe, and secure Ballroom be built on the grounds of the White House,” Trump wrote.
Although he did not go into full detail about the incident in the post, the president insisted that such a situation would not have occurred if the project had already been completed.
He also described the proposed ballroom as a highly secure structure, designed with modern protective features and located within the most secured area of the presidential complex.
“While beautiful, it has every highest level security feature there is… and is inside the gates of the most secure building in the world,” he added.

Trump further criticised an ongoing legal challenge against the construction, dismissing it as baseless and politically motivated, and called for it to be dropped immediately.
His comments came just days after a serious security incident during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner at the Washington Hilton, where gunfire broke out and led to the emergency evacuation of the president, Vice President J.D. Vance, and First Lady Melania Trump.
Authorities later identified the suspect as 31-year-old Cole Allen from California, who was reportedly armed with multiple weapons and attempted to breach a security checkpoint before being subdued by federal agents.
A Secret Service officer was injured in the attack but survived due to protective gear. Officials confirmed that Allen acted alone, while investigations into possible terrorism-related charges are ongoing.
