The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, has stated that he will not impose any candidate on the people ahead of the 2027 general elections, while reaffirming his strong support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

In a statement released on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor, the governor said his administration would allow political aspirants to freely pursue their ambitions without interference or imposition.
Governor Nwifuru, however, declared full backing for President Tinubu, describing him as the only presidential candidate he supports for the 2027 election.
He said his decision was based on what he described as the President’s support and commitment to Ebonyi State, adding that Tinubu remains the sole focus of the state’s presidential vote.

According to him, consultations will soon begin with political stakeholders across the state to ensure a smooth and well-coordinated electoral process.
He disclosed that a series of zonal meetings will commence mid-week, during which discussions will cover positions such as the Senate, House of Representatives, State House of Assembly, and governorship seats.
The governor urged political aspirants to remain calm and avoid statements or actions capable of heating up the political atmosphere, stressing the importance of humility and patience.

He also noted that electoral outcomes ultimately depend on what he described as divine direction, advising politicians to align themselves with what he called “destiny.”
However, Nwifuru made it clear that the presidential contest was not open for debate in the state, insisting that Ebonyi would deliver full support to President Tinubu.

He further praised the President’s developmental efforts in the state, stating that Tinubu is the only leader who has initiated projects in Ebonyi and is expected to complete and commission them.
The governor reaffirmed that the state would give its “total support” to the President in the upcoming election.
