The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has announced May 26 as the date for its primaries across all elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party said the exercise will cover House of Assembly seats, National Assembly positions, governorships, and the presidential ticket, with the aim of selecting candidates for the upcoming electoral cycle.

According to the NNPP National Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson, the party will adopt a consensus-based method in conducting its primaries across wards nationwide.
He explained that the timetable has already been formally communicated to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), ensuring compliance with electoral guidelines.

Johnson also disclosed that INEC recently concluded a verification exercise at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, which he said validated the structure and operations of the NNPP’s leadership under the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Hon. Bala Mohammed.
He insisted that the verification exercise reinforces the legitimacy of the current party leadership, dismissing claims from expelled members challenging its authority.

Describing the actions of the expelled members as misleading, Johnson argued that existing court judgments had already affirmed that they are no longer part of the party.
He further expressed confidence that ongoing legal disputes would ultimately be resolved in favour of the current NNPP leadership at the Supreme Court.

The party also called on Nigerians, especially young people and professionals, to participate in its ongoing membership registration exercise across all wards and local government areas in the country.
