WORKERS’ DAY CONFIRMED: FEDERAL GOVERNMENT DECLARES MAY 1 PUBLIC HOLIDAY NATIONWIDE

The Federal Government has declared Friday, May 1, 2026, as a public holiday to mark this year’s International Workers’ Day celebration.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who conveyed the message on behalf of the Federal Government while congratulating Nigerian workers nationwide.

This was contained in an official statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, on Thursday.

In the statement, Tunji-Ojo praised workers across the country for their dedication, commitment, and contributions to national development, noting that their efforts remain vital to Nigeria’s economic growth and overall prosperity.

He also encouraged workers to continue demonstrating patriotism, productivity, and strong work ethics in their various fields of service.

He further urged Nigerians to maintain peace and lawfulness during the celebration, adding that the occasion should serve as a reminder of the importance of unity, hard work, and national development.
