APC THROWS RACE OPEN: PARTY DECLARES ASPIRANTS FREE TO CHALLENGE TINUBU, SITTING GOVERNORS IN 2027

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has described the ongoing sale of expression of interest and nomination forms as a clear sign of strong internal democracy within the ruling party.

He made the remarks on Wednesday after monitoring the exercise at the Abuja Continental Hotel, where aspirants were seen purchasing forms to contest for various political positions, including seats currently held by governors, senators, and even the presidency.

According to him, the level of participation shows that the APC remains widely accepted and open to competition across all levels.

Yilwatda said the process has been smooth so far, with no reported complaints from aspirants, adding that banks, party officials, and administrative staff involved in the exercise have carried out their responsibilities efficiently.

He noted that payments are being processed without difficulty, receipts are being issued promptly, and feedback channels, including social media, have not recorded any grievances.

The APC chairman further stated that the exercise demonstrates the party’s strong organisational structure and commitment to transparent internal processes.

He also reaffirmed that inclusion remains a core principle of the party, saying the ongoing exercise reflects that value in practice.

On the possibility of extending the deadline for form sales, Yilwatda said no decision has been made yet, stressing that any such move would be determined by the party’s National Working Committee through the proper procedures.

He added that for now, the deadline remains unchanged.
