Dr. Hallowed Oluwadara Olaoluwa has continued to earn admiration across Africa for his extraordinary academic accomplishments, becoming one of the continent’s youngest PhD holders after earning a doctorate in Mathematics from the University of Lagos at the age of 24.

Born on September 27, 1989, in Bangui to Nigerian missionary parents from Ekiti State, Olaoluwa displayed exceptional intelligence from a very young age. During his early education, he received four double promotions and successfully passed the French Baccalauréat in Sciences at only 14 years old, a rare achievement in the Central African Republic at the time.
He later gained admission into the University of Bangui, where he simultaneously studied Mathematics and Physics. At just 18, he graduated with First Class Honours in both disciplines, earning recognition as the institution’s best graduating student in Mathematics and Physics.

Driven by his passion for academics, Olaoluwa also completed two Master’s degrees in Mathematics and Physics concurrently at the same university. By the age of 19, he had once again graduated with first class honours in both programmes, becoming the first student in the institution’s history to achieve such a feat.
Seeking greater academic advancement, he proceeded to the University of Lagos, where he obtained a PhD in Mathematics in 2014 with a perfect 5.00 CGPA. His area of specialisation focused on Functional Analysis and Fixed Point Theory.

His outstanding doctoral performance earned him awards for Overall Best Graduating PhD Student and Best PhD Graduate in the Engineering and Sciences category for the 2012–2013 academic session.
Olaoluwa’s achievements later gained international attention. He received an academic opportunity at Université Pierre et Marie Curie and later served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University between 2015 and 2016, where he carried out research in mathematical physics. He is also recognised as a fellow of the Next Einstein Forum.

Throughout his career, he has received several honours for his academic excellence, including awards recognising him as one of Africa’s youngest PhD holders and one of Nigeria’s outstanding young scholars.
Currently, Olaoluwa works as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Lagos, where he continues mentoring students and contributing to academic development.
