United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has warned that the ongoing Middle East crisis is having consequences that extend far beyond the region, saying the entire world is now “paying the price” of the conflict.
In a post shared on his official X account on Friday, Guterres said the crisis, now in its third month, continues to deepen humanitarian suffering and global instability.
“The Middle East crisis is in its third month & the whole of humanity is paying the price,” he wrote.

The UN chief urged all parties involved to exercise restraint and avoid any actions that could further undermine fragile ceasefire efforts or escalate tensions on the ground.
“All sides must refrain from actions that could undermine the ceasefire,” he added.
Guterres stressed that temporary pauses in fighting are not enough, calling instead for a comprehensive and lasting political solution to the crisis.
“The world needs a peaceful, comprehensive, and durable resolution to the conflict,” he said.
His remarks come amid growing international concern over the worsening humanitarian situation, with increased calls from global leaders and organisations for urgent de-escalation and renewed diplomatic efforts to bring lasting peace to the region.
