The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to the southern region of the country.

The disclosure was made by party chieftain and elder statesman, Buba Galadima, during a television interview on Monday, where he stated that the party had already concluded plans on the zoning arrangement ahead of the next general election.
Galadima explained that the decision leaves the race open to interested aspirants from the South, urging eligible politicians to register with the party without delay.

He also assured that the NDC would meet the deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the submission of its membership register, revealing that the documents would be submitted within the week.
Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has denied reports claiming he is planning to dump the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the NDC following Peter Obi’s departure from the party.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku described the reports as false and misleading, insisting that he remains committed to the ADC and its political objectives.
The statement further dismissed claims of any secret negotiations between Atiku and officials of the NDC, stressing that there are no plans for defection.
