Senator Ita Enang has reportedly been appointed as Nigeria’s new Ambassador to Germany, replacing former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode.

The development follows reports that the German government declined Fani-Kayode’s nomination after concerns were raised over his past public remarks and conduct.
It was earlier announced in March that President Bola Tinubu had approved the former minister’s posting to a European country as ambassador-designate.

However, reports indicated that German authorities did not accept the nomination, citing concerns linked to previous controversial comments and public statements attributed to Fani-Kayode.

The reported decision also came shortly after an incident involving the former minister and the United Kingdom’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Richard Montgomery, during a Ramadan gathering in Abuja hosted by Senator Bashir Lado, Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters.
Although there has been no official confirmation from the presidency regarding the replacement, reports suggest that Senator Ita Enang has now been selected for the diplomatic role.
