A new candidate has emerged from the All Progressives Congress following its House of Assembly primary election in Oyo State, as Barr. Abdulrahman Olaiya secured the party’s ticket for Oluyole State Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Olaiya clinched victory after polling 1,043 votes, finishing ahead of other aspirants in a closely contested primary election held within the constituency.

His closest rival, Hon. Jayeola Abdul Quadri, scored 989 votes, while Hon. Oke Are Aina followed with 905 votes. Other contenders included Hon. Akeem Lawal with 853 votes, Hon. Akinola Bala Akindele with 789 votes, and Hon. Femi Adeyemi, who recorded 90 votes.

The result confirms Olaiya as the APC flagbearer for the Oluyole State Constituency seat in the Oyo State House of Assembly.

Party officials described the exercise as competitive but peaceful, as aspirants tested their popularity within the party structure ahead of the upcoming general election cycle.
