KEFAS WINS TARABA APC GOVERNORSHIP TICKET AMID PARTY CRISIS

Governor Agbu Kefas has secured the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State after a landslide victory over former Minister of State for Transport, Muazu Jaji, during the party’s primary election held on Thursday.

According to results announced by party officials, Kefas polled 166,357 votes, while his opponent, Jaji, received 4,110 votes, sealing a decisive win for the governor.

In his acceptance remarks, Kefas described the outcome as a collective decision by party members and expressed appreciation for the confidence placed in him. He called for unity within the APC as the party prepares for the 2027 governorship election.

He emphasized reconciliation among stakeholders, urging both supporters and rival aspirants to come together and focus on a shared political goal. He also pledged leadership based on fairness, humility, and commitment to development across Taraba State.

The primary election, however, was not without controversy, as some aspirants raised concerns about alleged irregularities, including claims of late arrival of electoral materials and questions about the transparency of the voting process.

One of the aspirants, David Kente, alleged that parts of the exercise were compromised, while also pointing to social media footage suggesting inconsistencies in the conduct of the election.

The APC in Taraba State dismissed the allegations, insisting that the process followed due procedure and describing the claims as unfounded.

Despite internal disagreements, political analysts believe Kefas’ emergence could significantly influence the political direction of Taraba State ahead of the next general election.
