WE’LL PLACE NIGERIA ON IRREVERSIBLE PATH OF ECONOMIC EXPANSION WITH ANOTHER FOUR YEARS — TINUBU

President Bola Tinubu has pledged to steer Nigeria toward what he described as an “irreversible path of economic expansion and democratic consolidation” if he is re-elected for another four-year term.

He made the remarks on Sunday in Abuja during his acceptance speech after emerging victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election.

Tinubu secured a decisive win over his sole challenger, APC chieftain and businessman Stanley Osifo, polling 10,999,162 votes against Osifo’s 16,503 votes. The outcome was announced by the Chairman of the APC Presidential Primaries Election Committee, Senator Pius Anyim.

After receiving the party’s flag and Certificate of Return from APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, the president expressed gratitude to party members for their support and reaffirmed his commitment to national development.

He said his administration would continue pursuing reforms aimed at strengthening the economy, boosting industrial growth, improving energy security, enhancing infrastructure, achieving food sufficiency, and deepening democratic governance.

Tinubu acknowledged the economic difficulties Nigerians have faced since the introduction of key policy reforms in 2023, including fuel subsidy removal and changes to the foreign exchange system. He noted that while the reforms have been challenging, they are necessary for long-term stability.

He also reflected on the personal and national sacrifices involved in implementing the policies, stating that leadership requires persistence through difficult economic transitions.

The president highlighted ongoing initiatives under his administration, including student loan programmes, tax reforms, and infrastructure development projects. He disclosed that a significant number of beneficiaries have already accessed financial support under the student loan scheme.

Tinubu further promised improvements in electricity supply, expanded opportunities for young people, and a more supportive environment for businesses as part of his agenda leading up to the 2027 election.

On security, he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to intensifying efforts against banditry and other forms of criminal activity across the country.

He also urged Nigerians to remain engaged in the democratic process and cautioned against political actors he described as lacking credible alternatives, stressing that the upcoming election should reflect the country’s democratic maturity.
