The Nigerian Army has warned the public about the circulation of fake social media accounts being used by fraudsters to impersonate senior military officers and defraud unsuspecting individuals.
According to the Army, the impersonators are operating on Facebook using the identities of senior officers, including Major General Raymond Terungwa Utsaha and Major General Bamidele Alabi, in an attempt to mislead members of the public.

The Army stressed that these accounts are fake and were created with malicious intent to carry out fraudulent activities, including deceptive online interactions and financial scams.
It further clarified that no senior military officer engages in official duties, contract awards, financial requests, or sensitive communications through personal social media accounts or unofficial platforms.

Members of the public have been urged to ignore friend requests, messages, or any financial solicitations coming from such accounts and to report suspicious activity to relevant security authorities.
The Nigerian Army also stated that it is actively monitoring and taking steps to curb cyber impersonation and related online fraud targeting its personnel.
