ADC Primary: Hayatu-Deen Says Nigeria “Deserves Better,” Seeks Party’s Presidential Ticket
As the African Democratic Congress (ADC) prepares for its presidential primary scheduled for Monday, aspirant Mohammed Hayatu-Deen has outlined why he believes he should emerge as the party’s flag bearer ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement released on Sunday, Hayatu-Deen said his ambition is driven by what he described as Nigeria’s urgent need for better leadership, insisting that the country is currently facing serious economic and security challenges.
“Our nation stands at a crossroads. Over the past three years, food and fuel prices have spiralled out of control, there are too few jobs, and our security crisis means Nigerians across the country live in fear,” he said.
He added that his decision to contest was motivated by a desire to offer solutions through the ADC platform.
“I am running because Nigeria deserves better. And because our party, the African Democratic Congress, is the only vehicle through which we can deliver it,” he stated.

Hayatu-Deen also presented himself as an experienced technocrat, noting that he is not a career politician but someone with decades of experience in business and public service.
“I have spent forty years in business and public service, creating jobs, generating investment, and building institutions. Every business and organisation I have run, I have left in a better place than I found it. And I will do the same for our country,” he said.
He further argued that his candidacy stands out from others in the race, claiming he is not tied to internal party disputes or political rivalries.
“I am the only candidate in this race not hamstrung by the historic, divisive party political decisions that have weighed Nigerian politics down for two decades. I bring no factional debts and no record of personal feuds settled at the country’s expense,” he said.
According to him, the key issues driving his campaign are jobs, the rising cost of living, and insecurity, which he described as the most pressing concerns for Nigerian families.
“This campaign is about three issues that every Nigerian family is wrestling with: jobs, the cost of living and security. The ADC is the only platform focused on these issues,” he added.
Hayatu-Deen urged party members to support his candidacy at the primary, expressing confidence that he can lead the ADC into a strong contest in 2027.
“If you believe that I would be the best flag bearer to ensure victory at the presidential election next year, please join my line on Monday,” he said.
