Anambra Introduces N50m Permit Fee for Presidential Campaign Materials Ahead of 2027 Polls
The Anambra State Government has announced that presidential candidates of all political parties planning to use outdoor campaign materials in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections will be required to pay a permit fee of N50 million.
The announcement was made on Friday by the Assistant General Manager of the Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ANSAA), Chika Ngobili, during a press briefing at the agency’s headquarters.
According to the agency, the directive is part of its regulatory framework for managing outdoor advertising and political campaign activities in the state, as well as ensuring orderliness, environmental aesthetics, and proper coordination ahead of the election season.
Under the new structure, senatorial candidates will pay N20 million, House of Representatives candidates N5 million, while aspirants for the Anambra State House of Assembly will pay N1.5 million. Local government chairmanship candidates are to pay N2.5 million, while councillorship candidates will be charged N100,000.

Ngobili explained that the permits will cover a wide range of campaign activities, including posters, banners, branded vehicles, rallies, street campaigns, public address systems, and other promotional materials deployed across the state.
He also stressed that all campaign materials must be vetted and approved by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) before deployment, adding that only licensed practitioners would be allowed to erect billboards and other advertising structures.
The agency warned against indiscriminate placement of campaign materials on public infrastructure such as roads, bridges, flyovers, and government buildings, noting that violators would face sanctions under state laws.
ANSAA further stated that enforcement teams would be deployed throughout the campaign period to ensure full compliance, while urging political parties and candidates to conduct their activities peacefully and responsibly.
The development means key political figures expected to contest in 2027, including President Bola Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and Labour Party’s Peter Obi, will be affected by the directive if they deploy outdoor campaign materials in the state.
This is not the first time Anambra has introduced such fees, as similar charges were imposed ahead of the 2023 general elections, though at lower rates.
The state government maintains that the policy is aimed at regulating outdoor advertising, reducing visual pollution, and maintaining order during election campaigns across the state.
